lunges, squats and macros, oh my

Do you ever look in the mirror and not like what you see? I did too, at one time. It was shortly after the birth of my second baby, Kason. I didn’t bounce back right away like I did after my first born. I knew right then and there I needed to do something. Anything. I needed this for myself. I needed this for my kids. I needed them to see if you set your mind to something, it can be done. Don’t give up. If you start something, you finish it. I had never worked out before. Sure, I went on a few diets but they never lasted. I thought, ya know. This is it. I can do this. I have no excuses. I will be healthy for myself. I will be healthy for my husband. I will be healthy for my children. I CAN DO THIS. I mean, mamas can have abs, too! ūüėČ

It all started when my I asked my husband for The 21 Day Fix for my birthday. He’s super supportive of my fitness journey, so of course he granted my wish and got it for me! I followed the workout plan and the eating plan to a T for the 21 days and let me tell you, The 21 Day fix is a GAME CHANGER for someone who needs help with portion control. It really, really works! I lost a ton of inches around my waist, thighs, arms and hips. I’m not exactly sure how much weight I lost, but it was around 8-12lbs. So, if you need something that works, ¬†and that’s easy go for the FIX! It is great for beginners.

After the 21 days were over, I wanted to explore more fitness options, so I started The Bikini Body Guide (BBG) by Kayla Itsines. Now this, my friends, is a workout. I was still following the eating guide from the 21 Day Fix, but I wanted to challenge myself with a more intense workout guide. I followed this guide for about 3 months and I lost more weight than inches. It is a LOT of cardio with body weight exercises (just my opinion) and cardio, is not one of my favorites. I did have great¬†results, though! There are thousands and thousands of woman out in the BBG Community that do it daily and have for years and they look fab! So I ended up doing lots and lots of research because¬†I wanted to find a program/guide that would fit exactly what I wanted out of this fitness life. Cardio to a minimum. I came across the LG Community, by Lauren Gleisberg. Her guide is the shit. Seriously. I think I have officially found my forever fitness guide (although, sometimes, when I get bored, I make up my own routines)! and the best part is, most of guides are FREE! I have been following her guides for about 4 months and I am loving the results! I will forever be thankful for Lauren and her guides. Go check her out, seriously. While I’ve been following Lauren’s guides, I officially started Macro Counting (IIFYM) after countless hours of research and this, ya’ll, is where it’s at. Do you want to eat pizza, cookies and cupcakes and still look good? As long at fits your macros, you can eat whatever you want! No food is bad food. IIFYM is a life savor! I have seen AMAZING results eating whatever I want, yes, even ice cream for dessert. IIFYM has been around for quite some time but just recently became a huge hit. Can you see why? I know, right?! If you’re still reading this, here’s some advice – I’ve been there. You can do it. I have faith in you. Whether you’re a mom or not, you can do this! Set a goal, stick to it. Find time. Don’t make excuses. You got this. Yes, you will have set backs. Yes, you will have bad days. But you get up the next morning and start fresh. Everyday is a new day. YOU GOT THIS.

So, that’s it. I still count my macros and I still follow Lauren’s guides.

Fitness is a life long journey, there is no destination.

Hi y’all! I’m Alicia. I’m 23, a wife, mama of 2, lover of Jesus, fashion, farmhouse interior design and most of all fitness. I have been married to my husband for 4 1/2 years. We met in high school, I was a sophomore and he was a senior. We dated all through high school and then he proposed when I was a senior and we got married a year after I graduated. Two years later came my biggest little, Adelaide Mae. She is the sweetest, most gentle 2 year old I have ever met. Then came my littlest, Kason Ryan. He has the sweetest smile that could just melt your heart. I’m so passionate about being a mama, it will always take first place. It is something I had always dreamed about since I was a little girl. I can’t forget about my husband, he’s pretty awesome, too! He works countless hours so I am able to stay at home and raise our littles and I am and will be forever thankful for that.

A passion of mine is home decor. Have you ever seen Fixer Upper? Yep. Jo Jo is my girl! My husband and I built our home in the summer of 2014 and all my Farmhouse decor inspiration has came from Joanna, which you will eventually see blogged! I love clothes. I love fashion. I love makeup. Retail therapy can do a girl some good. Last but certainly not least, fitness has recently became a huge part of my life. I live for fit. I love the feeling after a good workout. I love inspiring people, and if you’re reading this, I hope I can inspire you, too! I was once a mom of 2 littles that thought I would never look the same. Well, here I am, 9 months post baby #2 and I look better than I did in high school! It is possible and you can do it. I’ll share with you my favorite workouts, workout essentials and some macro friendly recipes. I love to bake/cook!
